Our medium-density gel candle wax is a clear, rubbery blend of mineral oils and polymer resin, designed exclusively for use in container candles. Unlike traditional waxes, this gel offers a distinctive glass-like finish that lets you create candles with depth and visual detail. It's an excellent choice for crafters and small businesses looking to produce modern, eye-catching pieces that stand out in the market.
This gel wax is ideal for projects where transparency and personalisation matter. Use it to craft container candles that feature layered colours, suspended decorative items, or embedded keepsakes. It’s suitable for both personal use and professional candle-making, making it a reliable material whether you're exploring a new hobby or expanding your product line.
– Medium-density gel wax is only suitable for container candles. It is not designed for pillar or moulded candles.
– Known for its excellent clarity, this wax lets light pass through beautifully, adding depth and dimension to your designs.
– Works well with liquid dyes and most fragrance oils formulated for gel wax.
– Can be used with non-flammable, heat-resistant embeds such as glass, metal charms, and approved plastic elements.
– Long-burning properties mean your finished candles last significantly longer than traditional paraffin or soy-based options.
– Non-toxic and safe when used as directed, with minimal shrinkage and excellent stability in containers.
Usage Guidelines
– Melting point: 82°C. Always use a double boiler setup or heat in short intervals in a microwave with careful stirring.
– Pouring temperature: Ideal pouring temperature is between 85°C and 95°C. Pour slowly to minimise bubbles.
– Fragrance load: Recommended fragrance load is 3% to 6%. Add fragrance at around 77°C, just before pouring.
– Cure time: Allow at least 24 to 48 hours for the gel wax to set completely. Full fragrance throw improves after several days.
Important Safety Notes
– Only use containers specifically rated for candle use. Avoid thin glass or containers that may crack under heat.
– All decorative objects must be non-flammable and heat-resistant. Items such as dried flowers, paper, untreated wood, and low-grade plastics should never be used.
– Always test any object before embedding. Conduct a small heat test to check compatibility with gel wax.
– Keep embedded items well-spaced. Overcrowding can trap heat and cause uneven burning or wax overheating.
– Never let embedded objects touch the wick. Maintain a clear burn path to prevent flare-ups or wick obstruction.
– Gel wax has a memory. Pour in layers and allow each to set if you plan to suspend objects at different depths.
– Keep finished candles out of direct sunlight and high heat to avoid sweating or yellowing over time.
– Closely monitor burning gel candles and never leave them unattended.
**Please Note: While gel wax opens up endless creative possibilities, it’s important to remember that results can vary depending on your fragrance oils, embeds, containers, and wicks. Always run small-batch tests to refine your process and ensure the best results for both performance and safety.
This gel candle wax is a trusted option for those who want to explore creative candle-making with a professional finish. Whether you're making gifts, selling to customers, or simply experimenting with design, gel wax offers a stable, safe, and visually unique medium that sets your work apart.
